Verb Syndicate is a studio of ‘creative engineers’ — unique minds who design live events, websites, branding, video, multimedia and graphic arts on a project-by-project basis. We are the trusted partner of an international group of brands, festivals and governments looking to solve business problems with creativity and craft. In that sense, a spirit of collaboration and a maker attitude defines our work.

So let’s make something.

Our Story

When we first opened our doors in 2008, the city of Wollongong was undergoing a rapid transformation from heavy industry port to a hub of technology and innovation. In a bid to re-think how a city infrastructure could collaborate with the creative industries, we spent the next decade collaborating with councils, state governments, academic institutions, tourism boards, developers and cultural planners over a range of projects to build artistic capability at scale.

The effect was undeniable: a flurry of arts and music festivals, a hive of retail and tourism activity and a booming, self-sufficient cultural scene largely driven and supported by those in our orbit. Wollongong today is the living embodiment of our ideals; a hyper-viable model for banding governments, brands and independent artists together for something greater than what any one project might allow.

We also founded Australia’s premier street art festival — Wonderwalls — now a world-class urban arts program credited with revitalising entire city precincts. In the five years since conception we’ve just about run out of canvases in the Gong, so we’ll be hitting the road and hitting a few more cities in the very near future.

Today, we’re a creative studio of graphic designers, artists, producers, developers and visionaries who will help you stand out from the crowd. We continue to mediate between the world’s most cutting edge artists and the brands, platforms and governments who wish to work with them.

We design events, films, festivals, branding and websites from the DIY to the ultra-sharp. We’re experts at red-tape, and know how to grease the right wheels to make the impossible happen (legally, of course). These days the approach is a little more polished, but we still love to break out a scissor-lift and some spray-cans whenever we can.

We believe in the long-term value of creativity. Sometimes that means playing the role of cultural communicator for governments, other times it’s to help a brand say something with a certain amount of voltage.

We’ve seen it unify entire neighbourhoods and provide opportunities to emerging voices who might not have access to such avenues. Most of the time, it’s just a lot of fun. But with an ever-expanding array of perspectives, such creative projects can thrive in the unlikeliest of places. We want to test just how far that can go.
